Koonung Bushwalking Club is made up of a group of people who enjoy outdoor activities. Koonung is an aboriginal word which means "muddy water", a reference to a local creek in the area. KBC undertakes a variety of outdoor activities including a range of day, overnight and extended walks, basecamps as well as other activities such cycling, canoeing and a range of social events. Local, trips within Australia and overseas are undertaken. The age group varies from people in their 40's to people aged in their 70's. The club welcomes new members to the club. We are the Friendly Club!
The group meets once a month - the third Wednesday of the month at 8:00pm at the Pines Leisure and Activity Centre in rooms 13 & 14 - the address is 520 Blackburn Road, Doncaster East, Melways Map 34 D6, the Centre is located at the northern end of the Pines shopping Centre, enter via the doorway in the middle of the building, directly adjacent to the Pines Centre building, see map here. (Note there is no meeting in December). Walks take place on most Saturdays and Sundays as well as on selected Wednesdays throughout the year.
The annual fees are $40 per person or $65 per family (this is if you receive the clubs monthly newsletter "Walktalk" by Email - if you would like it sent in the mail there is an additional charge of $10 per year). To join the club you must successfully complete 2 walks with the club. The cost for attending these introductory walks is $5 per walk (plus petrol costs).
