This site is a one-stop-shop for anyone wanting to learn how to set up and run a community campaign, lobby politicians, organise peaceful protests, inform the media and much more, including hot links to other key activist sites.

Balance Research
 
 
Balance Research is a Melbourne-based voluntary organisation which looks into policy issues relating to transport and telecommunications. Its Director, Michael Isaachsen, spoke at the KMFA Annual General Meeting in March 2000 on the need for changing relativities between road and rail.

Surface Transportation Policy Project (STTP), Washington
 
 
STTP is a US non-government nationwide network of more than 250 organisations that completely changed US transportation policy from one that was engineering-driven, top-down, secretive, fiscally irresponsible, and almost entirely focused on highways, to one that is more planning-based, locally- controlled, open, fiscally constrained, and intermodal. A number of KMFA supporters heard STTP Director, Don Chen, speak in Ringwood last year when he was invited to a seminar run by Environment Victoria's Smogbusters.

Leftlink is a nation-wide email mailing list designed to keep progressive people in touch with each other - with "progressive" embracing a wide range of political, economic and environmental concerns.  It is open to free subscription from individuals and organizations.  It welcomes email messages from subscribers: the messages are perused, and if thought to be of general interest, are forwarded to all other subscribers daily.

This site contains a very long list of environmental groups in Australia: if it has a website, it's probably here. The site has 25 categories, including Environment. There is a search function and 1873 links. KMFA's web page has recently been submitted for addition to the list.

 

Environmental Defenders Office Victoria
 
 
The EDO has produced a Petition Kit that provides information and contact details for parties submitting a petition to Local, State or Federal Government. Well worth a look. 

The Pritchard Steam Engine
 
Ted Pritchard is a member of Preserve Ringwood and Its Surrounding Environment (PRAISE) which works closely with KMFA. Ted is a mechanical engineer who has achieved international recognition for his research into the steam engine as an environmentally friendly and economically viable alternative to the combustion engine.
