Kingston Community Recreation Centre
Up

Kingston Community Recreational Centre has, in many forms, served the community of Kingston and the surrounding areas for over a hundred years. Originally erected as the Kingston Mechanics Institute in 1848 the Centre provides a focus for community activities. In 1982 the Mechanics Institute suffered a severe setback when the original building was destroyed by fire. After the fire another building was placed on the site and the hall continues to be in regular use.

The hall is in use by:

  • Kingston Playgroup for weekly playgroups on Tuesday mornings.
  • Kingston Boot scooters, weekly (in warmer weather)
  • Kingston Primary School, concerts and fundraisers
  • Friends of the Avenue, Kingston, monthly
  • Band Practice room for a local band
  • The hall is available for use at all times from the local shop
  • The tables and chairs are available for rental
  • Table Tennis is also available at the hall
  • The hall is the emergency assembly point for the area
