About us

We are a group of local cyclists who are working to improve cycling conditions in the City of Kingston and are a sub committee of the Bayside Bicycle Touring Club. We are implementing locally the Bicycle Network Victoria aim of "getting more people cycling more often".

The BUG achieves its objectives by members lobbying together  as a self-help group to work on our projects.  These may be large such as the Beach Road Bike Path, which forms part of the Round The Bay Trail, or as small as a pothole in your local street, or a bike parking rail at your milk bar.  Lobbying may take the form of writing letters to the decision makers, going to meetings like the ones for the Kingston Open Space Strategy, or working with municipal and other bodies on specific projects such as implementation of the Kingston Bicycle Strategy.  Remember you are not a lone voice for cycling, but have access to the resources of other members and their support.

I hope you decide to join us. The larger and more active our group, the more affective we will be.

Who we work with.

  • We are share aims with Bicycle Network Victoria who support all cycling within the State of Victoria. We can use their resources to further our regional campaign issues.
  • We are a member of the Kingston Conservation and Environment Coalition (KCEC).  They are an umbrella group for all the environmental groups within the City of Kingston.  Cycling falls into this category being an environmentally friendly form of transport.
  • We also work with City of Kingston Council.
