Keysoe Callagun Keysoe Donkey Stud

Welcome to one of the oldest and best known studs in Australia. Established in 1969 by Ann Walker, the stud had grown from our first six wild donkeys which came from feral herds in the Northern Territory. Our jack, Keysoe Matchem, is a great-grandson of Keysoe Sally, one of those six donkeys.

For many years we bred small English/Irish donkeys as well as the larger Australian donkeys (with no English/Irish blood), but we recently disbanded the English/Irish part of the stud, and are now concentrating on Australian Teamster donkeys ranging from 12 - 13 hands.

Keysoe donkeys are individuals with the emphasis being on quality rather than quantity. The focus of the stud is breeding good donkeys and a kind reliable temperament is valued above all else. We also look for a willing temperament and good movement making our donkeys an excellent choice for riding and driving.

Every foal is trained and handled from birth and to facilitate this we usually only breed two or three foals a year. We are proud of our donkeys and we hope you enjoy seeing more of them as you look through this web site.
