Kew 'State School Nationals' Champion

Congratulations to Maddy Wild for her performance at the National Schools championships in Perth last weekend.

Maddy swam 32.84 in the 50m butterfly final (8th) and 30.00 in the 50m freestyle final (9th).

She then set a new national record with a time of 28.87 in her leg of the 4 x 50m freestyle relay. The relay team came first. What a fantastic effort - well done!

All Juniors Finalists

Congratulations to all Kew Swimmers who qualified for All Juniors Semi Finals at MSAC on 21 March.

Well done to Phoebe Allen, Maddy Wild and Marli Wilkinson who made it to the finals on Sunday.

Extra hearty congratulations to Marli for winning the silver medal in 8/under breaststroke!

Another great Kew Encouragement Meet

The sun may not have shone as brilliantly as last year, but that did not dampen enthusiasm.

The turn-out was great and many PB's were swum. Big thanks to everyone who assisted and supported the 3rd Annual Kew Swimming Club Encouragement Meet.

Kew fields Sprint Champ Finalists

Congratulations to Maddy Wild, John Chen and Jess Kipping for competing in the finals of the State Sprint Championships.

Many Kew swimmers achieved PB's in the heats held on Saturday 14 February. In the finals on Sunday, Maddy came 7th in girls 11/under 50m freestyle and Jess came 7th in girls 17-18 50m butterfly.

John Chen took 2 seconds off his best time over the weekend! He achieved a new club record for 12 year old boys 50m breaststroke with 37.25 seconds. His outstanding swim secured the State Silver Medal.

Congratulations to our finalists and all swimmers who participated in heats.

State Open Water Champs at Hazelwood

On Saturday 18 October, Kew Swimming Club was represented by 12 swimmers across the 1, 3 and 5 kilometre open water events at Hazelwood Pondage.

The sparkling spring weather was ideal for several first-time competitors. And of course the brilliant Kew team spirit meant everyone was still smiling at the end of the day.

Special congratulations to medal winners Kate Gibson and Jessica Kipping. Kate came 2nd in the female 15-16 years 3km and Jessica came 3rd in the female 17-18 years 5km.

Kew Swim Camp huge success

Team building, goal setting and fitness optimisation. Bring it on!

Swim Camp 08 was a marvellous event over the weekend of 4-5 October. The Super Heroes and Olympic Champions threw themselves into the challenging program.

One of the highlights was hearing first hand the Olympic journey of canoeist, Warwick Draper.

State Short Course Champs

Kew swimmers have performed admirably at the State Short Course Championships last weekend.

We are a relatively small club. But that has not stopped our swimmers achieving some impressive results and significantly improving our State ranking.

A night of pride for Kew

Congratulations to Kew swimmers who were recognised for their achievements at the Presentation Evening on 25 May.

Junior and senior swimmers achieved some outstanding results in 2007/08.

Kew Young Guns take The Plunge

The self-proclaimed Kew Young Guns competed in the 1 km Take the Plunge Swim Classic on the weekend. Our swimmers performed well in the individual event and came 2nd in the Under 16 team relay.

They were very excited to receive their award and a few words of encouragement from champion Michael Klim.

Congratulations Bec Welsford!

Congratulations to Bec Welsord on coming 2nd in the Hazelwood Open Water 10km swim on 21 October. Bec finished with an impressive time of 2:42.21. What was the worst part of the race? Bec's response: "Being overtaken by Grant Hackett". Well done Bec!

Kew launches Superfish!

Kew Swimming Club has launched an exciting new program for young swimmers. Specifically designed for swimmers making the transition from swimming lessons, Superfish concentrates on fitness and technique in a fun and secure environment.

The traditional GREEN CARD for swimming meet registration has, shall we say, retired.

The new kid on the registration blocks is the trim, taut and terrific downloadable registration form.

Available in WORD or PDF formats, the new form gives swimmers the opportunity to save time, save parental frustration and help save the planet.
