Kew Philharmonic Chamber Choir - WE LOVE TO SING!

About Us

Who are we?

Kew Philharmonic Chamber Choir gets together each week to sing! We enjoy the great music across the centuries, especially early and sacred styles. We perform around Melbourne several times a year.

About

The Choir is currently preparing for an evening Mass at Holy Trinity Kew. The mass setting will be Claudio Macchi's "Missa Millenii".
While many choir members have been singing with the Kew Philharmonic for a considerable period of time, we are always enthusiastic about welcoming and mentoring new young singers who have an interest in fine sacred and secular music. See "Joining"

The current director, Stephen Kerr, has been with the choir for two years and is keen to re-invigorate the choir, encouraging younger members and broader repertoire. He is a professional pianist, organist and teacher and is also Director of Music at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Kew.

History

The Kew Philharmonic Society has existed for over 60 years. Originally it comprised both orchestra and choir, but with the orchestra disbanding in 1997, just the choir remains. The Kew Philharmonic Chamber Choir now tackles choral music across the centuries, from the 15th to the 21st, performing several times a year around Kew.
