Many smaller schools which opened during the late 1800's have since closed and their students moved to larger schools. The Katandra and District History Group has organised the placing of plaques at the sites of some of the former schools that had not been previously recognised.
Three of these plaques were dedicated on October 17th in conjunction with the Katandra West Primary School 75th anniversary celebrations. The school sites are:

Invergordon South S S  No 4477
Katandra S S  No 1965
Marungi S S  No 2236

Two more Schools had commemorative Plaques unveiled on  Sunday April 3rd 2005.
       These Schools are
  PINE LODGE NORTH  S S  No 2150
  YABBA (YABBA) SOUTH  S S  No 2609
