History! In August 1957 five Limburgers came together, who where living in Melbourne. They decided that Melbourne could not live without Karnaval. The first function was held in the Camberwell R.S.L. and was a big success. By February 1958 we had a complete council with Vorst Sjef Rosier and the first Prince Arno Eyck. In November 1958 the members decided to have Hoog het Rood
- Geel - Groen as it's Club Song and the colours red-yellow-green as the
Club Colours. The decission was made because this are the Karnavals
colours in Limburg. For 5 and a half years we used the R.S.L. hall in Prahan. 11 November, 1972 was a significant time for the club, as we opened our very own clubhouse in Keysborough. In 1978 the club traveled with a large delegation to the netherlands to celebrate karnaval in the province Limburg. The trip was a huge success and still remembered by some of our members today as being a marvelous time. Our 2 x 11 was celebrated in 1979, with a huge party. 1984 was a bad year for the kangaroos, because the clubhouse burnt down. The next years were difficult for all involved, but the club went ahead. And in 1990 celebrated we our 3 x 11. In 2001 we had our 4 x 11 which again was celebrated in style and with great joy. We had last year also a bad message. Our Grootvorst Leo is passed away after a long sickbed. We will keep missing him. Our fantastic 50th birthday is gone. And off course are we going with our Grootvorst Tom, Vorst Jo, President Hein, Prince Sjaak and Raadsmembers to our 5 x 11. |
