The International Dance Center of Kalamata (IDCK) undertakes the task to organize a wide-ranged dance festival everysummer as well as other relevant events throughout the year. The IDCK activities aim to make Kalamata a pivot city of dancein a national and international level. The IDCK's activities cover three levels, those of research, education and entertainment. At the first year of its operation in summer 1995, IDCK organized a festival covering all periods and streams of dance. Asidefrom the Greek and international delegations (CAMALEO Catalan theater of the street, Stars of Russian Ballet, Momix,Oktana, Kalamata Lycee of Greek Girls, etc.) IDCK presented its own production, the "Chorales" (chorika) by ZouzouNikoloudis. At the same time, the European Union approved a project so that the "Chorales" production could cooperate withVideo Place of London and Grand Prix International of France. In Fall 1995, IDCK started the preparation for the creation ofa research center, a museum and an archive on dance. The third International Dance Festival is scheduled to begin in summer 1997.
