Ms Yvonne Margarula, an Aboriginal Australian, is the Senior Traditional Owner of the lands in Kakadu National Park on which it is proposed to construct new uranium mine. If given the go-ahead, Energy Resources Australia (ERA) will mine Ms Margarula's tra
ditional homeland at Jabiluka and transport uranium ore by open truck 20 kilometres across her country to its existing Ranger uranium mine facilities for processing. Ms Margarula is emphatically against the mining of Jabiluka and is calling for Australian
and international support to stop the destruction of her homelands.
Yvonne's call for support provided the inspiration for this page. The friends Home Page is one step towards meeting her request by providing a contact point and an information service to individuals or organisations also interested in working to
gether to block the expansion of uranium mining in Kakadu.This service maybe of interest to anyone working, in Australia or internationally, in any of the following social change areas:
