“But the Jung Society is so hard to
find!” is a comment that has been made for many years. The
problem is that any phone book listing becomes outdated for up to a
year when the Committee member whose phone number has been listed,
eventually moves on. Now a solution has been found. We have
listed a mobile number in the White and Yellow Pages, both on paper and
online. As Committee members change, now only the phone message
needs to change. Thanks to Maxwell Ketels for arranging all
this. In the interests of ‘visibility’, we are also advertising
in the Age on the day of our meeting, for a trial period.
In
this programme, we go back to basics with our Core Concepts course, and
outwards to the world with Asheville Jung Center’s global video
seminar. As membership numbers have declined further this year
with the global financial crisis, the course and the seminar are
intended to engage new segments of the wider public in the Jung
Society’s activities.
In this programme we have
another DVD evening, as promised. In August Dr. Simonne Jameson
will speak on her encounters with Jung and Salvador Dali. Special
thanks go to Franca Gatta for suggesting this speaker. Although
all our speakers come from diverse fields, a Jungian listener will hear
that they are each in their own way ‘living the symbolic life’.
None
of these activities are possible without our hard-working and reliable
Committee. I am very grateful to them all for their energy and
commitment. Outside the Committee, the Society relies on other
volunteers such as Beryl Stone, who assists in the Library at meetings,
but has also recently worked on the Library catalogue. We also
rely on Angelo Raffaele (video recording), Jenny Naismith (Books
table), Glenda Matthews (Library), and Matt Smith (Set up).
Sincere thanks to you all. I hope that both members and visitors
will find this programme enjoyable and stimulating.
