About the Society

The C.G. Jung Society of Melbourne aims to provide a forum for the discussion and exploration of the work of Carl Gustav Jung and its developments and applications. Our monthly lectures, workshops and courses are open to the public as well as members.  The lectures are usually held on the third Friday of the month at St David's Uniting Church Hall, corner of Burke and Mont Albert Roads, Canterbury and are free to members.  Our Library is open on lecture evenings and our members can borrow freely from the large collection of Jungian books and journals.  Should you have other queries, you could phone the Secretary. Programs are updated in late January and late June each year.

From the President - June 2008

Thank you to the Committee and all members for giving me the opportunity to work for the Jung Society as president.  I look forward to getting to know as many of you as possible.

Mary Duffy hands on a vibrant, varied and forward-looking Society.  Her advice and support in the handover period was thorough and invaluable.  I am very pleased that she has agreed to continue running the Book Table.

Our Committee is working harmoniously as we get to know each other better.  One or two members have already come to me with suggestions for developing the Society further, and I welcome any ideas you may have.

Unusually, there were Committee elections at the AGM.  As it was likely that one or two Committee members would have to retire in the coming months, we co-opted the two unelected candidates on to the Committee.  Welcome to them both.  Paula Klement will be taking on membership administration, and Yudith Enya will run the Lecture Publications Table.

Our Society runs solely on the work of volunteers, not only our   Committee, but also untiring helpers such as Beryl Stone,  Angelo Raffaele and Matt Smith.  For the past two and a half years Anna Rosenberg has run the Lecture Publications Table.  This is a huge job, which she has done with quiet efficiency and flair, achieving an outstanding level of presentation.  Thank you, Anna, very much for all your work.

Ignatius Ong, an IT professional, has generously offered to re-design and modernize our website.  This will give the Jung Society the chance to develop its presence and activities online much further.

Meanwhile, committee member Tim Falkiner has begun the huge task of transferring the Library’s collection of audio cassettes on to CD.

In this programme, we are trying out some new technology with the DVD evening in July and the Skype interview in September.  I am aware that this places an extra load on Committee members, which they have cheerfully accepted.

I hope you will enjoy this programme of events, and will join us in December to celebrate both inner and outer accomplishments in 2008.
