This year’s Conference returns to its roots - the cinema. The George Cinema, one of Melbourne’s newest 'boutique screen' complexes, provides professional viewing in addition to discussion rooms and networking spaces. Located on St Kilda’s beachside Fitzroy Street amongst famed restaurants and late night bars, the George is one of Melbourne’s leading arthouse cinema complexes. The George boasts an impressive array of features:
Directly opposite the George Cinema, a large marquee will be constructed at the St Kilda Bowling Club amidst the greens to be used for plenary sessions, the lunch and evening function area and as a workshop and forum space.
Stop 22, a gallery space also situated opposite the George, will be the site of the Conference’s Videotheque comprising a series of video and CD-Rom booths housing viewing equipment, as well as a library where filmmakers can leave videos/ CD Roms of their work for interested people to view. (You can let us know when you register if you wish to lodge your video or CD Rom at the Videotheque.) Stop 22 will also house an exhibition of archival material from the Shell Film Unit highlighting the work of Conference guest John Heyer. In addition, the space will be used as the location for the Internet points linking the Conference to sites around Australia and the world.
