Controversial expatriate filmmaker John Pilger, with his latest work, Vietnam: The Last Battle.

Award-winning UK directors Kim Longinotto (Dream Girls, the success of last year’s festival circuit) who will present her newest work Shinjuku Boys, and Phil Agland (Beyond the Clouds, screened on ABC-TV last year to great acclaim).

Diane Tammes, one of Britain’s most respected documentarians, renowned for her work in television (Culloden, Police, Some Women of Marrakech).

FROM ASIA

From India, Sagari Chhabra (Now I Will Speak, Brides are Not for Burning), and 1993 guest Anand Patwardhan, who returns with the final instalment of his trilogy Father Son and Holy War.

Fred Wibowo, one of Indonesia’s most prolific and experienced award-winning documentary filmmakers, and his compatriot, emerging documentary filmmaker Rivai Riza.

Byun Young Joo, a leading independent filmmaker working in documentary in South Korea.

FROM AUSTRALIA

In honour of the 50th anniversary of the Commonwealth Film Unit, this year’s Conference welcomes documentary ‘pioneer’ John Heyer, (Back of Beyond, winner of the 1954 Venice Grand Priz Assoluto) and his contemporaries, Colin Dean and Maslyn Williams.

Other home-grown guests include Robert Gibson (Video Fool for Love), and Tom and Josko Petkovic (Letter to Eros).
