Background:
The PJC began in November 1978 when a dedicated group of jazz lovers formed into a club devoted to presenting Jazz music on the Mornington Peninsula. Over time our venue has changed and now we are centred north of the Frankston area with more than 300 members. Functions: We hold a regular monthly function, usually on the third Friday of each month, and a well known local or interstate jazz band is hired to play their style of jazz. We also provide a limited area for dancing. Members can bring their friends along and non- members are welcome to attend. Four times a year we present Sunday afternoon speciality concerts. These events are concert-style, however, for those who wish to dance, there is a small area available behind the audience and we ask that you respect the concert ambience by not making any undue noise during the performance. Every May we hold a Dinner Dance on the 4th Saturday of the month and an annual New Years' Eve Party. These events substitute our normal monthly Friday function. Membership: The Annual Membership fee is $20 for a single and $30 for a double from July to the following June. If you join the club during March, April or May, you will get up to 15 months' membership for the price of the normal annual fee. Membership benefits include: Special Members' ticket prices for all functions. Priority Members' bookings for all gigs. Monthly Newsletter containing events, news and reviews. Automatic entry into Members' Jackpot drawn at each monthly gig. Reciprocal entry at members' ticket price for all other jazz clubs in Victoria. Committee: The Club is run by a voluntary committee elected each year and all members are eligible to serve. Over the years the Club has become a happy meeting place for people who enjoy music, some dancing and a pleasant social environment. |
