The Beginning Readers
for Adults are a series of three Copy Masters books suitable
for people with mild intellectual desabilities, beginner readers
and students in the early stages of learning English as a second
language. They have been used Australia wide in the Adult Literacy
and Basic Education (ALBE) areas of adult literacy and with students
with mild intellectual disabilities. All the sets have been trialled
successfully with students with an intellectual disability in classes
at Japara.
The writer, Sue Chambers has been a tutor in
the ALBE and disability fields since 1988 and is involved in curriculum
and program development as well as co-ordinating programs at The
Bridge Community Garden Centre.
The Beginning Readers for Adults
series of books comprises:
