Our Mission

The Intersex Society of Australia is an organisation which seeks to improve the standards of living of people with intersex conditions by:

We acknowledge that being intersexed is a beautiful variation of nature which should not carry any social stigmatisation, and we campaign against medical intervention (either by surgery or hormone treatment) which forces a child to become what society perceives to be normal (ie male or female).

We also acknowledge the right of self determination, and believe the only person with the right to make decisions regarding irreversible medical intervention is the affected person themselves.
