The society was formed
in 1979.
It publishes a newsletter posted to all financial members
and arranges
excursions to hydroponic farms.
Meetings are held on the
third Sunday each month (except December and January)
usually from
10am to midday. Details are published in the
newsletter.
Prospective members should contact the president for
information on the next meeting
location.

What
is
Hydroponics?

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil.
Adequate light
Nutrients
Warmth
Water, and
Protection from pests or environmental hazards, such as frosts, hail, strong winds.
Advantages of growing plants without soil:
There is no digging, hoeing, weeding or hard physical work
It requires less time, less space and much less water
It is more productive, more controllable and more predictable
There are no soil borne plant disease causing organisms.
