OUR COMMUNITY
Hume U3A see's itself as a member of the local community

While we do recieve some funding from our local Council, we feel we have many things to contribute to local affairs
Hume U3A inc. strongly believes in partnerships with organisations in our Community.
Hume Global Learning Centre has been a long time supporter of Hume U3A. Various courses are held there, and gives us access to their computer class rooms and family history resources
We have a partnership With Dallas Primary School and Kindergarten where our office is located and several activities take place..
Gladstone Park Community Centre, which hosts our craft classes on a Thursday.
Gladstone Park Secondary College has, since our foundation allowed use of their facilities for Computers and Art groups.
Dallas Neighborhood House will be new venue for Computers this year.
Banksia Gardens Community Hall is also used for exercise groups and computers. These venues are wide and varied.
The committee also has entered into a partnership with two other U3A’s Mooney Valley and Whittlesea. A platform for the exchange Ideas.

Our members volunteer for other entities, the Library, and other aged services.
We are members of The Hume Global Learning Village which is an innovative partnership that links learning providers from across Hume City including five libraries and the mobile library, local schools, neighborhood houses and learning centres, the Hume Global Learning Centre, Visy Cares Learning Centre, Kangan Batman TAFE, local businesses and Victoria University. The Village combines its collective resources to provide a diverse range of formal and informal learning opportunities for residents.
We are regular participants in the annual Relay for Life event which raises funds for cancer research, and have supported other fund raising activities for charitable causes.

This year we have asked to help recruit volunteers for a study of Osteoarthritis, the details is as follows

The University of Melbourne are looking for volunteers to take part in a study of Osteoarthritis. (OA) You can participate in the study if you are over 40 years. Have OA in the kneecap. Have pain behind or around your Kneecap that is aggravated by walking up or down stairs, or rising from sitting or squatting. For more information call 03 8344 6749 Or go to their Web site.
