Our
programs at HTL are play based because we understand how essential play
is for children's development. We encourage our children to direct their
own play because this allows them to work in an exploratory and individual
ways. The role of the staff is to resource and facilitate play, finding
props and organizing activities to stimulate play and motivate discovery.
Also, the children attend each session of kinder with the same group of
friends.
We
also have incursions made by performers such as story tellers and musicians,
a baby animal farm and native Australian animal and reptile expert. During
these visits the children are encouraged to take part and become involved.
Three year old kinder also have one excursion in fourth term and several
excursions throughout the year for the four year olds.
Three Year Old
We
offer two groups of three year old kindergarten. The Three year old program
is often your child's first extended experience in a group situation with
other children and adults, but away from parents/guardians. Each group
has a total of five hours per week at Kinder.
The hours are
Dolphins - Monday 8.45am - 10.45am and Thursday 8.45am - 11.45am
Penguins - Monday 11.15am - 1.15pm and Thursday 12.30pm - 3.30pm
Four Year Old
We
offer two groups of four year old kindergarten. Four year old kindergarten
introduces the children to an all day session and teaches greater independence.
A total of 12 hours, of kindergarten per week is standard. Subject to
availability, an extra session of three hours may be purchased in our
four year old program.
There are seven x three hour sessions each week available of which the four year old children are allocated four x three hour sessions, including one full day.
Monday afternoon 1.30pm - 4.30pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday mornings 9.00am - 12 noon
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday afternoons 12.15pm - 3.15pm
