23rd Nov 2006: It's that time of year again, time for the junior club championships! Held
after school, in the lazy afternoons of December, each day of the championships will commence at
4:15pm and wind up at around 8:00pm.
Entries are due to Robert Peterson by Tuesday 5th of December, and
the championships run from Monday 11th of December through to Thursday 14th (weather permitting
of course!). Grab your entry form from the clubhouse!
2nd Oct 2006: Congratulations to Brendan Moore, winner of the men's
club championships for a third year in a row. Brendan defeated Jay Croucher 6-3 7-6.
The second set was tightly contested, however Brendan, overcame the dry yet humid conditions and
pulled through 7-4 in the tiebreaker. Although Jay was defeated, at just 14 years old the future
is bright for the talented junior. Well done Brendan on yet another club
championship.
24th Sep 2006: Yesterday was a fine, although slightly windy day, perfect for the Ladies
club championship grand final. Congratulations to Amy Munro for winning in an entertaining
3 setter. Amy defeated Lisa Bradley, last year's champion, in a come from behind victory:
2-6, 6-4, 6-0.
22nd Sep 2006: Men's club champs just keep rolling on. Semi-finals
results:

· J. Croucher def. D. Scott 10-8.
With the number of competitors in the men's we were able to run a b-grade tournament for
first round losers. C. Jay def. P. Jay 6-4. L. Whitaker def. C. Jay 6-1. A. Benson def. T.
Goodwin 6-2. M. Burns def. A. Benson 10-8.

21st Sep 2006: The last two nights proved to be more favourable for playing tennis,
and some excellent tennis was produced! The first round of the men's draw was concluded
with M. Munro def. L. Whitaker 10-8.
The ladies championships kicked off with 2 matches:
· L. Bradley def. K. Harmer 6-3, 6-0.
· A. Munro def. K. Bradley 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. (What an epic!)
Men's second round results:

19th Sep 2006: Alas, rain has hampered the first night of play in the men's side of the
senior club championships. Most of the first round was able to be played, however the second
round matches have had to be pushed later into the week.

24th Aug 2006: We are pleased to announce the 2006 senior club championships! This year
we are holding the rounds leading up to, and including, the semi-finals under lights during the
week! The grand finals will remain in their traditional weekend timeslot.
The entry form is available
here. Please make
sure you are available all of the nights and days of the championships.
Entries are due Friday 15th of September.
The cost is $5, payable on the first night of the tournament, and we would love to see it be the biggest club championships in years.
The b-grade tournament will allow everyone to have a go!
There are no doubles events this year to ensure that the singles events are as high standard as
possible.
24th July 2006: If you missed the trivia night on Saturday you should be kicking
yourself! The night was a fantastic success and special thanks must be extended to Kellie for organising
the evening.
Everyone had a fun night of trivia, talking and generally having a good
time! Congratulations to the winning table that included none other than our wonderful
president, David.
12th July 2006: After another moderately extended break, the HTC
newsletter is back. Make sure you
read it to keep abreast of the latest happenings around the
club.
25th June 2006: Congratulations to Dan and
Phil of KDNTA Men's
section 5. They won the grand final in very convincing fashion defeating Rowville 5 sets
love, 31 games 11. Impressively this was against a team they had not beaten in the five
previous meetings, including a loss in the semi-final.
20th June 2006: The recent midweek ladies tournament was a huge success, with 80
players catered for in style. This is a event is a big fundraiser for both Heathmont
Tennis Club and H.E. Parker Reserve Tennis Club, so please keep supporting it!
29th May 2006: Jan reports that there are only 8 more spots left in the midweek
ladies tournament, and entries close Thursday, so get your entries in quickly!
17th May 2006: It's official! The 2nd annual Heathmont Tennis Club trivia night
will take place on Saturday 22nd of July. Tables of 8 can be pre-booked for $70 by sending
cheques to Kellie Harmer at the
club's PO box. We have a maximum of 12 tables so book
early!!
15th May 2006: The AGM was held tonight, and by all reports the year just gone was a
good one for the club. The president had plenty of praise, but concluded we could do more
on the Maintenance front - if anyone is interested in being the club Maintenance Officer that
would be greatly appreciated!
The outgoing treasurer reported a working surplus of $2,000 - but an overall decrease in the
number of members. The club welcomes the new treasurer, Matt Burns, and the new secretary,
Kellie Harmer. No amount of thanks would be enough for outgoing secretary and life member,
Jan Crapper.
10th May 2006: Hot off the press: more details of the midweek ladies tournament!
Entries are due to Jan Crapper by Thursday 1st of June. Entries are $35 / pair. The
tournament itself is Wednesday 14th of June, at 9am sharp.
29th April 2006: The midweek ladies tournament circus will soon be back in town!
Jan Crapper is the person to contact, she can tell you all manner of things about the
tournament, like the due date for entries, and the date of the tournament.
The tournament will be held on a Wednesday in June. More details as they come to hand.
10th April 2006: The club's 80th AGM will be
held on the 15th of May at 8:15pm in the clubhouse. It's important that members attend and
help elect a new committee. If you'd like to be on the
committee contact Jan Crapper for details.
9th April 2006: According to well placed sources, yesterday's senior round robin was
quite an enjoyable social day. Keep your eye's pealed for the next one!
8th April 2006: For those who are a little behind the times, renewal fees were due a
week ago! If you haven't already paid, please do so ASAP. Your club needs your
financial support to keep providing great tennis facilities!
29th March 2006: Reminder - renewal fees are due Saturday! Please get them in on
time, there is a discount for on-time payment!
3rd March 2006: After a sizeable summer break the Heathmont Tennis Club
newsletter makes it's triumphant return today. You can
read it here!
28th Feb 2006: Night tennis is a great way to get
involved at the club. Less formal than weekend competition,
night tennis often concludes with snacks and wine or beer. Better still there are grades
to suit everyone. Entries for the upcoming season
(commencing May) are due on Wednesday 8th of March. So if you are interested in playing get your
act together and contact David Scott immediately!
25th Jan 2006: Congratulations to Brian Churchill, winner of
the Jan Crapper trophy for contribution to junior tennis at Heathmont
Tennis Club. Brian make sure the junior competition ran smoothly while
Rob Peterson, Heathmont's coach, was
overseas.
24th Jan 2006: News of the junior

23rd Jan 2006: Four brave souls turned up in the 40°C heat of Sunday for the senior
round robin. It was quickly decided to shorten the day to one set of doubles. Look
out for news of another, hopefully cooler, round robin in the near future.
10th Jan 2006: Sunday week (22nd Jan) will herald the first Senior round robin of the
year. Kicking off at 3pm, it should be a nice day of tennis and socialising. The
round robin is graded so all standards are catered for!
A BBQ and drinks will be available.
