9th Dec 2004: Time can be measured in many ways. One, mostly inaccurate, way would be to measure the
time between HTC newsletters. Some would say it's 2 months, others quite rightly point
out that sometimes it is 3 months. Most agree though, this discussion is silly. Please for your own
sanity (and sense of the passage of time), read the December newsletter.
18th Nov 2004: Eastern Region Tennis is holding a
twilight round robin tournament in January. It is a
doubles tournament accepting men's, ladies and mixed pairs of all standards. The matches will start at 7:30pm,
and the tournament runs on a Tuesday and Thursday evening; it should be a pleasant thing to do after work!

Closer to home, Heathmont is holding a senior round robin on this Sunday, the 21st of November. We welcome
anyone of any standard to come down and enjoy an afternoon of social tennis starting at 3pm.
4th Nov 2004: Junior club championships are being held in the early evenings of
the 6th to the 10th of December. If you are interested in competing please see Rob
Peterson and he will be able to direct you to the nearest entry form.
19th Oct 2004: Did you enjoy Sunday's round robin? Want to play in
another one? Perhaps you missed Sunday's round robin? Never fear - HTC is holding another one before the
end of the year - on Sunday 21st of November.
17th Oct 2004: Third time lucky. HTC was proud to officially open the new lights today with a round
robin tournament and a BBQ. The weather was fine,
and the sunset combined with the new lights perfectly. We hope to run an informal round robin or just social a
hit each month on a Sunday afternoon from now on. If you are interested email

11th Oct 2004: In a literary feat only obtained previously by Shakespeare himself,
Daniel Sly has produced a tennis club newsletter worth
reading! So you better read it - head to

7th Oct 2004: Remember the senior round robin is coming up in 10 days! Club champions will be
presented, a raffle will be drawn and a free BBQ will be cooked for all to enjoy.
27th Sep 2004: Some more club championship results... Congratulations Katherine Cole who defeated
Krissy Bradley to win the Ladies singles 6-4 6-3. Hats off to Brendan Moore and Ron Moore who defeated Nick
Sheehan and Carl Cant to win the Men's Doubles event 6-4 6-3.
13th Sep 2004: Unfortunately heavy rain on Saturday has delayed the conclusion of the club championships.
The conclusion to the ladies and men's singles, and men's doubles will now be decided this coming Saturday (the
18th).
The mixed doubles ran perfectly on the sunny Sunday. Congratulations to club champions Stephen Jay and
Kathleen Jay, defeating Peter Thomas and Cheryl Benedict in a three setter: 6-0 6-7 7-5.
7th Sep 2004: The draws from the ladies singles and
mixed doubles are now out. Unfortunately the ladies doubles
will not be run due to lack of entries.
The men's events are well underway, both the grand finals will be run
this coming Saturday - be at the club in the afternoon to see some great tennis!
31st Aug 2004: The draws for the men's events at the
club championships are now available.
30th Aug 2004: With the home and away AFL season over, Heathmont
Tennis Club is proud to announce Brett Stenhouse is the winner of the prestigious HTC Footy
Tipping Competition! He somehow managed to pick 123 winners during the season.
Nipping on his heals were David Sellick and David Moors; both able to pick
120 winners. Sadly George Darwent couldn't even beat 50/50, with
only 70 correct tips.

events) will be held in the first two weekends of September.

15th Aug 2004: For your enjoyment Sunday, October 17th brings a senior round robin tournament to the club!
Held in the afternoon, and with a BBQ on the agenda, it should be a day for all to compete and have fun! We
hope to see you there!
11th Aug 2004: Club championships are on the agenda!
2004's championships will be split over two sections of the year.
Senior events will be held in the first two weekends of September (details very soon!) - and junior events will
be held later in December.
If you want to compete, ensure you have paid all your membership dues, and look out for the
entry form - it will appear online in a few days!
9th Aug 2004: Rain, rain go away! Alas rain has forced the grand opening of the lights to be
delayed. The committee is most disappointed, but has decided that the raffle that was to be held on Saturday
(and which some people have tickets in!) will be held at a Senior round robin day - details of which will be
announced shortly!
The juniors on Sunday had a little more success at getting some tennis played, but the rain had the last word in the
matter, forcing them off court. Congratulations to all who played, won, lost and got rained upon!
25th July 2004: It's time for the juniors to come out and play! The 28th graded Junior Round Robin
is being held on Sunday the 8th of August.
Bring your friends, entry is only $2, and it starts at 1:00pm. Contact Rob Peterson

20th July 2004: Eastern region senior
summer season entries close in 10 days time. Get your teams together and let
David Sellick know by Saturday the 31st. Mixed and open doubles are
available on Saturday afternoons, and open singles and doubles is available on Sunday afternoons.

30th June 2004: Rescheduled! The grand opening of the lights will now take place on August 7 when
there will be more light, heat and fine weather! Come along and enjoy an informal evening of social doubles
play and a free BBQ to top it off.
We are also holding a raffle for the night. Prizes include: a tennis bag, a money tree and some red wine.

20th June 2004: Alas rain and hail has stopped the Grand Opening of the new lights being as good as it
could have been. Sensibly no one played any tennis in the rain, however the lights did get turned on - and
they looked great!
Another attempt to have a social evening of tennis and food in celebration will be had at some later date, keep your
eyes peeled for news!
8th June 2004: The (almost) bi-monthly newsletter is out! Containing

1st June 2004: A grand opening of the new lights on courts 3, 6 & 7 is being held on Saturday, June 19th.
Roll up at 5:30pm, bring your own drinks, racquets, and sense of occasion! Doubles
will be played, BBQ'ed food will be eaten and fun will be had!
24th May 2004: HTC Committee 2004/05 contains twelve brave souls - willing to
give up one Monday night a month for the good of their club! The committee is
listed on the committee page! Thank you to everyone who turned up to the
AGM tonight, it was quite productive. The
president and treasurer's
reports both contained positive news for the club.
20th May 2004: The annual general meeting is on this coming Monday
(the 24th) in the clubhouse. It would be great if all members can come along, it
starts at 8:15pm and shouldn't take too long!
17th May 2004: AFL round 8 has finished and it's time the
footy tipping competition is put in the spot light. Michelle Lopez is leading the way
with 44 correct tips; David Scott is nipping at her heels with 43 correct
tips - following those two is a pack of four punters with 41 correct tips.
The race for last is easily being won by George Darwent with a dismal 26
tips correct - that's less than half correct... your average monkey could do better!

9th May 2004: With new lights freshly installed, HTC has got more capacity to host night tennis teams than
you could possibly count in one sitting! Entries for next season of the
Knox District night competition are due in 10 days! New teams are most
welcome.

4th May 2004: The first season of the Lilydale
District night competition has come to a close. Congratulations to the
Geldings (in name only apparently!) who won Men's section 10 with a thrilling 3 game victory in the grand final this
evening! Other victories will be reported as news come to hand.
20th April 2004: This is official annual general meeting notification!
The AGM will be held on Monday 24th of May, 2004. The

will also arrive in your mailbox over the next few days. Make sure you take an interest in your club's ongoing
health and welfare!
19th April 2004: Renewal fees are well overdue, if you have not paid them please make sure you do ASAP.

16th April 2004: A very big Happy Birthday to Rob our
coach, who turns 50 today! HTC hopes he has a wonderful day!!
13th April 2004: Perseverance has paid off! Construction of the new lights on court 3, 6 and 7 has
begun! By early May all seven tennis courts will be lit. Please stay off courts 3, 6 and 7 until the
construction has completed - for your own health and well-being!
We're so pleased to be getting the new lights there will be a grand opening some time later in the year so we can
show them off to all our members!
1st April 2004: Rain has set in and obviously summer eastern region competition
has been finished for a few weeks now. HTC had a number of teams make the finals (both junior and senior)
which is fantastic! Congratulations to our 2 victorious teams, Boys section 20 and Open seniors section 11 -
they had very close and exciting wins!
31st March 2004: Rob our coach ran a junior round
robin tournament last Sunday, and from all reports was a great success. The weather was hot, and 58
competitors slogged it out for the ultimate glory. Keep your eyes peeled for news of another tournament in a
few months!
29th March 2004: The footy tipping competition for 2004 is now underway.
Winner for round one was none other than the vice president himself,
David (of Sellick variety), with a seven correct tips.
25th March 2004: A quick reminder that membership renewal fees
are due Thursday April 1st! That's next week! Please help out by paying your fees on time, and don't
forget that every member must pay the insurance levy.
24th March 2004: The Australian Open is recruiting for next year!
If you want to work at the open get your application in quickly, closing date
is the 31st March. Applications are submitted online at
https://www.aoonline.org/apps/. Jobs include ball kids, chauffeurs,
statisticians, administrator assistants and more.
15th March 2004: The trivia night has been cancelled :(
8th March 2004: Footy season starts in less than 20 days! If you want to be
in the HTC footy tipping competition for 2004 remember to email
Phil and ask him how to join. All
tipping is conducted over the internet, and costs $22 to join.
3rd March 2004: Most members will have received their renewal in the post today. Remember to receive
the discount you must pay on time! That is by the 1st of April - only four short weeks away! If you use
internet banking and it would be more convenient for you to pay that way, don't hesitate to contact the
treasurer and ask him for the bank details so you can directly deposit the
payment.

perfect solution for you, play at night on weekdays! Doubles only, very social and
great fun. Ladies night is Monday, Men have a go on Tuesday and Thursday and Mixed teams take the court on Wednesday
nights.
