The Society meets monthly at 2:30pm on a Sunday of every month from February to December in the Community Room at the St Kilda Library located in Carlisle St, opposite the Town Hall, except as otherwise indicated in the Calendar of Events. Speakers are invited to address topics of interest. Guests are most welcome. The St Kilda Historical Society also presents various displays to the wider community. Past activities include historical walks focusing on certain areas of St Kilda and Elwood, historical displays, film nights and talks by members, historians and community leaders. Walks give an opportunity to visit important buildings in the community and learn about their architecture and local history. Other walks provide a guide to the cultural landscape of the area. Click here to view two self-guided walks. Informative displays are held at regular events around the community, and we have information booths at community festivals. We also hope to display local historical works in selected restaurants and businesses around the area. |
