Coordinating Committee of Research
Institutes of Hellenism
The Hellenic Studies Forum is a founding member of the Coordinating
Committee of Research Institutes of Hellenism (known as SEEIE from the
Greek abbreviation).
An the initiative of the Cyprus Research Centre (KY.KE.M.) SEEIE was
established in 1994. Its founding members are:

The Coordinating Committee of Research Institutes of Hellenism would
serve as the platform from which Greek professionals, academics and scientists
all over the world would contribute and play an active role in shaping
and realising an international strategy for Hellenism.
The establishment of the Coordinating Committee aims to:
· Utilise the significant scientific and human resources existing
where Hellenism lives and is active;
· Co-ordinate activities between research organisations concerning
themselves with the study of Hellenism and undertake joint research projects
on important issues affecting Hellenism;
· Identify gaps and overlapping in research on issues of national
and international importance;
· Systematic study of issues concerning Hellenes abroad;
· Formulate strategies and facilitate communication between Hellenic
communities abroad and the metropolitan centres, Greece and Cyprus.
1st International Conference - "Hellenism in the Global Village"
Nicosia, Cyprus, November 1995
It was organised and hosted on behalf of the Coordinating Committee
by KYKEM. This was a recognition of KYKEM's initiative to get the Institutes
together and an attempt to reconfirm the significance of the Cyprus issue
internationally.
2nd International Conference - "Hellenism in
the 21st Century"
Melbourne, Australia, August 1997
This Conference provided a public forum for the examination of the forms
of Hellenism in the light of globalisation, rapid technological developments
and the development, role and future directions of the Hellenic communities
abroad. The Conference enabled over one hundred participants to debate
issues identity and culture, demographics of the communities, social and
economic trends, political activism, and the role of Greece and Cyprus
in the European Community.
