In paper tole a three-dimensional framed artwork is created using multiple copies of a print such as a landscape, bouquet of flowers, animals, etc. Using these copies, layers are built up with glue, little blocks of polystyrene foam, cotton, or other object to raise the print cut-outs, and gentle bending of the paper to produce the three-dimensional effect. The final piece is housed in a special paper tole frame - as the work is not flat, it needs extra depth. Carefully completed, a paper tole item is an intriguing object of art to view. |
