Ribbonwork can be two-dimensional, using several stitches common to embroidery, when worked on cloth. The use of ribbons produces an interesting texture on the worked item. Ribbons are available in various widths, colours, and printed designs. Ribbonwork can also be a free-form three-dimensional craft as when creating flowers and leaves with wired ribbon. These may then be sewn onto a hat or garment for decoration, or used to produce an evergreen display of flowers in a vase, for example. |
