Oil Painting.

Oil painting uses paints that are a combination of pigment and oil.

Artwork: Oil painting of seascape.

Painters used to combine pigments with egg yolk which produced a fast-drying paint (tempera). Using oil instead, the paint dries much slower enabling the artist to blend hues, and add translucent layers of colours (glazes) for finer shades and detail on the painting.
