These applique templates can be printed out and enlarged/reduced using a photocopier to the size you require. Cut the template out of cardboard if you will be reusing it - you can then trace around the applique design for cutting - otherwise ordinary paper is suitable for pinning to fabric.
Each template can be appliqued to a plain fabric background or form part of a patchwork if appliqued to a foundation patchwork block (usually a large square patch).

| Further Ideas |
Different types of patchwork templates can be used as appliques. The applique need not be restricted to geometric shapes. Inspiration can be found in designs printed onto fabric, wrapping paper, greeting cards, children's artwork, embroidery, stencils, and even carpet! You can create a totally abstract design using a simple line drawing on paper and cutting that out to recreate the image in applique. Applique designs can be further embellished with embroidery or beadwork. |
