Following the 2003 Draft Master Plan, two groups were established. The Botanic Gardens Steering Committee consists of town residents and council staff involved with the gardens. Their role is advisory and their current focus is implementation of the Master Plan. The Friends of the Botanic Gardens have a more practical role, assisting with works in the Botanic Gardens Reserve.
