February 2004 - Promoting a Business

At our February meeting our speaker was Vic Maccarrone one of the directors of the Balsamic, Ringwood's new Restaurant and Bar. Vic shared with us some of the planning and marketing necessary to make this bold new venture a success.

While most of us were surprised by the size of the venture and the challenges presented by the need to train so many new staff; we were also struck by the similarities of many of the problems and could see immediate applications for many of the ideas Vic challenged us with.

Vic also discussed their other restaurant in Epping and showed us one of their very succesful flyers; a pizza home delivery promotion so succesful on it's first trial that everyone even the chefs were sent out delivering pizzas.

Vic's refreshingly honest and open answers to the many questions were so popular we had to close the question time so we would have time for the delicious supper that the Balsamic also provided.

I can see that I will have to make regular visits to the Balsamic so that I can check out the effectiveness of their marketing while I consume a glass or two of their excellent wine.
