ASIC's site for small businesses is a mass of valuable information including

Business Entry Point
This is the government's newly revamped entry point for all business enquiries.
As well as being a portal to other State and Federal sites it also features
case studies and access to the ABN database.
FreeHills
OK so I know they are lawyers, and half of HomeBiz can't afford them but
nevertheless their web site is worth a look. Most of Freehills' front
page is taken up with links to publicatons covering 32 different areas.
You can read their summary and analysis of business,legal and financial
news which they think may be relevant to their clients. You can also find
valuable information on topics such as our new privacy legislation.
Business Victoria
This is the Victorian Government's constantly expanding gateway into a
wide assortment of information for small business. Make sure that you
visit the Information sheets section and download the "complete set
of information sheets". This is like an electronic manual of everything
you need to know to set up and run a small business. If you do not already
have it installed on your computer you will need to download and install
the Adobe Acrobat Reader but there is a link to this.

This is a Victorian Government initiative aimed at boosting the uptake
of e-commerce among businesses and consumers. It is a very well organised
easy to use site containing a vast amount of information about e-commerce.
HomeBiz Parents
Juggling children and a business? Think you're alone? Think again, here's
a an online community just waiting to chat with you. The Entrepreneurial
Parent is a US work-family resource for home office entrepreneurs and
career professionals. It is American so you will have to work through
the schmaltz and the advertisements but if you are prepared to invest
a little time looking there a some real nuggets in this gold mine.

This site offers some add-ons for Outlook that I have found particularly

The Lounge
This Australian site is aimed at providing more web content aimed at women
and often addresses the problems of women in business. The site itself
is an example of a very successful small business established by women
for women.
Australian Taxation Office
Everything you probably didn't want to know about tax; but they have done
a good job of their web site. Why not we paid for it.
