The Herring
Island Gallery is the converted scout hall. The fireplace and the marks
on the floor are the give-away signs – the architecture is
now inspired by the place – a gift to the arts by the Myer
Foundation and the genius of architect, Greg Burgess.
Australia
Day Activities 26th January
Australia
Day 2011 activities included artists' demonstrations in the courtyard,
self
guided
walks of Herring Island (free brochures/maps available from the
gallery), one guided tour, perfect weather and the perfect opportunity
for a picnic in treasured bushland. Hundreds of people
enjoyed a great day on the island.
We hope to repeat
this performance in 2012 - particularly by organising perfect weather -
over which we have no control.
Herring Island
Summer Arts Festival thanks the Australia
Day Committee
(Victoria) for their support for our Australia Day program.

exhibition runs 12 to 4:45pm

The exhibition brought
to you by Ceramics Victoria Inc is a members only exhibition, where
we invite current and new members to explore the theme of BREAKING
THE DROUGHT. The theme is in keeping with our current weather and is
a starting point for our artist's inspiration and may be approached
on both a literal and/or metaphorical level. For instance, artists
may explore the ways in which, in our lives and society, we can find
ourselves at times struggling in what seems a barren landscape or a
time of deprivation, only to have a seemingly sudden and sweet
release as our interior or exterior weather changes. Artists will
consider some of the factors involved in such transformation, and the
subsequent feelings such as hope or loss, joy and fear that can
accompany it.

further information for this exhibition or anything more on Ceramics
Victoria Inc can be found at our web site,
