Membership

The Committee members of the Hindu Society of Queensland Inc. like to thankyou you and your family on renewing your membership with our Society. We would appreciate your efforts in helping to ensure that our Society moves ahead and become the best Hindu body in Queensland. No doubt both the Society and you will benefit from this association. By being a financial member and through strong membership we can build a stronger organisation. We will encourage you and your family to be a financial member and support our Society by being a regular donor and also visiting our Gayatri Mandir, 178 Lyndhurst Street, Boondall during Hindu festival celebrations.

Membership is open to all that believe in Hinduism. In an attempt to gain some new members we will carry out a membership drive this year as it's very important for any Society like ours to have as many members as possible. The Management Committee is sure that you will be proud to be a member of our Society. Memberships are very important for the following reasons

  • Members are the strength of any Society. This will also give us better standing and dealing power within the Indian organisations and within the government bodies for any issues concerning our Society. For example, if we represent our Society for any grant or negotiation to any government department or other organisation, if we have a large number of members we then stand a very good chance of achieving our request.

  • It brings unity and friendship among its members.

  • The membership fee will provide the Society the funds for the day to day running expenses of the Mandir. The more members, the more monies derive so that we could carry out the planned capital projects. Please note that your monies are spent wisely for the Mandir.

Fees are $10 per family and $5 per person over the age of eighteen. Subscriptions are payable each financial year (ie. 1 July to 30 June). Please ensure that your membership subscription is paid in order to get regular newsletter updates, etc from the Society.

 

Life Membership

We sincerely request other members to become Life members of our Society to enable us to build a new Mandir Project. To date, we have 89 Life members. The Committee members of the Hindu Society of Queensland Inc. welcomes you on becoming a Life Member of our Society. We know this has not been an easy task and we will appreciate your efforts in helping to ensure that our Society moves ahead and become the best Hindu body in Queensland. No doubt both the Society and you will benefit from this association. Life membership is not only an honour but through strong life membership we can build a stronger organisation.

Life membership is encouraged as it allows one the distinction of having made a considerable contribution to the Mandir or our Society.

Eligibility

  • Any member who donates $1,000 is eligible for Life-Membership with his or her spouse. You can make the donation in lump sum or donate within a year by instalments. Your contribution will be only spent on the new land and building project.

  • It was also agreed by all members present that those who have paid $1000 or more prior to 2000, are to be included as life members.

Rights of a Life Member

  • No further annual membership fee shall be payable by a life member.

  • A life member shall have the right to one vote at general meetings and shall be eligible for election as an office bearer of the Society.

  • A life member's name shall be endorsed on a Roll of Honour in a manner determined by the Management Committee.

We thank you again for your commitment and willingness to become a regular member or life member and wish you a happy association with the Society.

 

 

Donations and Help

A society like ours needs regular donations to run its affairs. All donations over $2 are tax deductible. You can post your cheque to the Society or contact any of the Committee members of the Society. Apart from the money, the Society would welcome any other items that may be used at the Mandir.

There are a lot of things that require attention and your support is required. If you want to do anything for the Mandir or make any suggestions, please write to the Secretary or contact any of the Committee Members. We need donations in cash or kind. Please note that all cash donations are tax deductible. Before nominating all donations in kind ie. any items, please contact the President or Secretary to avoid duplication.

Please donate generously to upgrade facilities of the Mandir for the preaching of our religion and our future generation's protection.

The President and the Management Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one for supporting the cause of Mandir either by way of donation in cash or kind. We also appreciate your manpower in renovations and gardening, supply of fruit, food, cooking and, most importantly, your continuing moral support.
