Information for 2011/12 Seniors Summer Competition

The summer season starts on Saturday October 8th, the week after the AFL Grand Final.  We have four teams representing Highmoor - Mens singles/doubles Section 4, Mens singles/doubles Section 6, Mixed Rubbers Section 2 and Womens singles/doubles Section 3.  All teams have four people playing each week.

For players:

The proposal to amend the rules re calling a washout by prior phone consultation between captains (alleviating the need for all players to drive to courts) will be put to a meeting of all BRTA club delegates on October 17. I'll record Highmoor's support for this motion at the meeting and will let you know the outcome when it occurs.

There are also a couple of Highmoor proposals regarding collection of ball money and allocation of match balls to be discussed at Committee level which may affect team members.  Captains will be advised of the suggested changes, and ask players for their feedback.

All players need to bring a plate of food for home games and adhere to all club rules, including watering courts before use and sweeping and watering courts after use.  Please ensure that the clubhouse, match viewing area and environs are cleaned up thoroughly before leaving on the days of play.

Your Captain will draw up a roster at the start of the season. Please let them know as early as possible if you are unavailable. Captains should have teams locked in by Thursday night, prior to matches wherever possible.

For Captains:

Call me on 0431 623 509 if you get a last minute unavailability call and I'll do what I can to find a fill in. Both BRTA and Highmoor have strict rules as to who can fill in for teams.

Be sure to thoroughly read through the Association By laws either on the BRTA web site or on the purple fixtures provided.  Extra copies can be downloaded from the BRTA web site.

Always ensure that the opposing captain has signed the BRTA score sheet (in the 'Captains Signature' section) and signed as witness (in the 'Opposing Witness' section) for any emergency players who play for Highmoor on the day or else we stand to get a fine for that, PLUS get all our points stripped for that day. The completed score sheets must be returned to Bob and Betty Hooppell on the evening of the game as I have to enter in results electronically to the BRTA within the next 48 hrs.

After each game, whether home or away, a team representative must hand in the completed Highmoor score sheet, the match balls (which will be used for mid-week tennis) and the signed completed yellow envelope with $3 per person to Bob and Betty.

Please let me know if you have any queries,

Maurice Pattison
