First Grade

The inter-comp match against Jika Association was played at Lalor on December 2. HDCA batted for 37 overs, during which time it rained for the entire innings. The match was then abandoned due to the weather. Scores were:

HDCA 6/193 (B O’Connor 49no, D Connolly 49, G Butterworth 40, S Elworthy 26) drew with Jika.

Good win to the Bullets. The Hills not able to provide support for Jason Boag.

Greensborough 162 ( O’Sullivan 38, P McLaughlin 31, Shaw 4/24, Joyce 3/26 ) lost to Rosanna 3/164 (Leech 67, Almatrah 62no)

Rosanna takes the points easily losing only three wickets. The Borough are now in real trouble, without a win and two wins off the pace in regard to relegation. I believe urgent messages are off to El Presidente Steve interrupting his soiree thru Europe on the Kon Ticki tour. Consolidation required at War Memorial to address this slump.

Once again the bats failed at Macleod. After being a chance at 3/89 from 36 overs at tea, the batting wobbles set in once more. Skipper Mark Lynch injured and looks like missing at least one. Further matches will rely on old muscles able to gain restoration over the Christmas break.

League leaders, the Banyule Bears prove too strong. Good double to skipper O’Connor.

The surprise result of the round. Very good win to the Valley as it is always hard to chase any score especially 250 plus. And the Bellfield attack is no slouch either.
