Despite a strong effort from new “all-rounder” Dale McDonald, Bellfield fell short of the target required. Good effort from young Lee Scannell to capture five wickets.

Yarra Valley 6/219 (L Gatherer 112) def Greensborough 218 (K McLaughlin 37, P McLaughlin 36no, L Gatherer 3/27, P Dunell 3/50)

It was not ‘Daffy’ but Leathal Lee who did the trick. Victory to the Valley leaves Borough in the hot seat as far as relegation goes. Still early yet however the boys at War Memorial will be starting to feel the heat.

Heidelberg 7/120 (S Favrin 39, S Cashen 22no, P Barnes 5/28) def Banyule 118 (S Favrin 4/39, I Toohey 3/13)

As expected, Banyule fought out the match but a low score gave the bowlers little to work with.

Rosanna 213 (Joyce 58) lost to Edinburgh 218 (Lester 86, Nash 35, Howell 5/66, K Shaw 3/61)

Close tussle, but victory to Edinburgh.

Clifton Hill 98 (Nicholas 29, Smith 4/26) and 9/117 lost to Macleod 9/140 dec (Gavin Pilkington 40, Tim Wise 38)

Macleod elected to bat on and once again lost many wickets cheaply. This time 6/19. Their strong bowling attack is winning them matches at present. The batsman continue to find ways of losing wickets cheaply. However a win is a win.

West Ivanhoe United 71 lost to Heidelberg West 2/74 (Brett McGrath 46 no)

Banyule 199 (T Veal 64, B Bowler 35, R Smith 4/28, S McLeod 3/82) lost to Heidelberg 316 (I Whalen 81, D Turner 67, T Veal 4/59)

Macleod 9/251 (Mick Bosso 70, David Neal 36 no, Colin Shaw 28, Bruce Harris 3/48, John King 2/40) lost to vs East Ivanhoe Saints 6/259 (Dean Platt 112no, Peter Nance 69, P Murray 26, C Hammell 2/41

Century maker Platt, given a chance in the 30s, was a major factor in Saints victory. Needing 100 runs from 28 overs, quick runs were scored just prior to the second drinks break to reduce the equation to 47 runs from 20 overs. This period of eight overs saw Macleod lose their grip on the match.
