Membership

Membership with the Hobsons Bay City Band is open to musicians of all ages and skill levels. Being a concert band, instrumentation primarily consists of brass, woodwind and percussion instruments, but we have facilitated bass and classical guitarists, along with keyboards and vocals in the past.

As a general guide, many of the musical charts in the library are based on an AMEB Grade 4 level, but our members range from beginners who have just started learning music at school, through to hobbyists, music teachers and retirees. This proves to be a great mix where the younger members can learn from the more experienced players and the hobbyists are able to refine their skills and share their enjoyment of music with others.

Apart from playing in the band, we also encourage members to participate on the Committee. Though joining the Committee is not essential, it gives members the opportunity to gain management and communication skills, or to contribute their own skills and assist in the running of the band.
