Dear Sir,
This is
the first opportunity I have had to congratulate both you Cr.Hardinge,
Mr. McDonald and Council staff, for their perseverance
regarding the installation of on-road bicycle lanes in Victoria St.
Williamstown and for continuing to implement this aspect of council
policy in the face of such strident opposition.
This is
surely a progressive initiative which example needs to rolled
out across the City of Hobson's Bay.
Now school
children can ride to school with increased safety, because of the
roadway being marked out to declare that those who ride bicycles have a
right to their proportion of the roadway, in equality
with pedestrians and motor vehicles.
I rode up
Victoria St. when on my way home from Werribee Sth. and was delighted
by what I saw. Particularly with the on-road Bicycle lanes
being painted on the roadway all the way from the Esplanade to Kororiot
Ck. Rd.
It would
be a definite advantage for school children to have the 200 meters of
the north end of Champion Rd on-road lanes finished in the same way as
Victoria St. as well.
Such a
bicycle route would enable parents to leave their cars at home this
summer and ride to the beach.
Yours
sincerely
Noel C.

you seen the HBBUG variation for the Hobson's Bay Strategic Bicycle
