Dear Sir,
I have noted that
there are now on-road bicycle lanes through the roundabout at the
Basketball Stadium in Queen St. Altona Meadows.
The placement of
the roundabout with on-road bicycle lanes, has fixed a dangerous
situation for myself and other road cyclists that was created near 15
years ago, when the centre turn lane with splitters was installed at
this location.
On behalf of the
HBBUG and other road cyclists that use this route daily, I thank you
for honouring your enclosed statement.
'Council funding roundabout at basketball stadium
entrance with a dedicated bicycle lane through roundabout -
construction of this is to commence in early 2006.' (Item 4, E-mail

What you
have been able to achieve at this roundabout, is what
we as a group would like to see happen at every roundabout in
Hobson's Bay. The more options cyclists have to ride to work,
the fewer cars will be on the road.
This treatment in Queen St. at the Basketball Stadium
is also what the HBBUG recommended in our submission to
council.
