Hard Knox Women At The Australasian Masters Games Adelaide 2007
Hard Knox entered a team in the lowest 35 + Women's Grade this year as we had a team that was basically 45 + with a few younger members. We had a great time in Adelaide. We had booked at the caravan park across the road from the playing grounds, so there were no transport issues, and people could drift back to the accommodation at any time during the day as they wished. The team had a great time, but were outclassed by several teams that should have been about 3 Grades higher in the competition.
We had a range of players from Knox and also Werribee, and a late "conscript" from Adelaide, Annette, the sister of Karen C. Ann Stone from Werribee acted as the link between the Hard Knox Women, and the Hard Knox Men that were playing with the Laverton Bears. She had a special role in being the keeper for one of the "special" gnomes that were part of the Bears family. Thanks to Ann for her lively support and humour over the week.
There were a number of special "Crunchy Senior's Moments" awards handed out during the week. This included one for Coach, Graeme, who was running the pre-game toss batting on one occasion and set up for a right hander, only to find that Julie was standing behind him ready to bat left handed, as she always does ! A couple of others seemed to come to the fore for Crunchy Awards, including Karen C, who I think just wanted a couple more Crunchies to fix her chocolate craving ! Thanks also to Annette who juggled work commitments to add very valuable younger "legs" to the fielding, and managed to smack the ball around a few times as well.
