Dyeing on the Web
During 2008 we started Dyeing on the Web, available to members who are unable to attend our Dye Days at the guild. All information on the dye source and method are forwarded by email, followed up by the results. Hopefully the web participants are able to access the same or similar dye source in their location and are able to join in the fun, at a distance, by dyeing at home. By forwarding their results we can compare outcomes from different areas.
If you wish to participate in Dyeing on the Web all you need to do is be a member of The Handweavers and Spinners Guild of Vic. Inc. and contact me at rrheywood@netspace.net.au.
2008 Projects

One of our regular dyers, Lorraine Sprague, was successful at Bendigo Show this year receiving a 3rd place in her category with a crocheted rug made from wool dyed over the year at the Dye Group.
Other projects completed during the year by members of our group are
Carmel Hanna’s Indigo Rug, Elaine Moodie’s Shibori Scarf, Helen Keefe’s beautiful shawl dyed with Eucalpts and my scarf, colours carded and blended from Indigo, Wattle, and Eucalyptus cineria.

Dyeing
On the last Dye Day for the year Madder was our choice; one of the ancient dyes which was valued for its rich colour and light fastness. Madder is still valued by today’s hand dyers. We were fortunate to obtain both dried and fresh madder roots.
