Events

Geelong Writers typically stage an event each month.  These events are open to the general public.  For news of upcoming events, refer to our monthly newsletter. Examples of some of our past events are:

Polyglots on Pako is our contribution to the Pako Festa, which is a celebration of cultural diversity held in February each year.  ‘Polyglots’ means ‘many languages’ and we endeavour to present an event with a multicultural theme.

Words at the Gallery.  Various invited writers present their responses to works from a selected exhibition at the Geelong Gallery.

Under Milk Wood:  A exploration of Dylan Thomas’ famous play including audio recordings of a performance by Thomas himself, anecdotes of a visit to his home town, and a film on the making of the play.

Workshops

Overload Words.  In conjunction with the annual Overload Poetry Festival, Geelong Writers have staged two successful events:  Self Publishing of Poetry and Performance Skills for Poets.

Page to the Stage.  Performance writing from script to action.

Flesh and Blood or Rubbery Figures? Characterisation workshop on bringing your characters to life.

Getting Into Print – Dealing With Printers.

Markets for Short Fiction

Members’ Readings

We regularly host readings afternoons, where writers have a chance to share their work with other members, and to share ideas with like-minded writers.
