| What We Do |
Victoria and local Communities heavily rely on people, coming from all walks of life, to give their time to become members of many organizations, not just emergency services.
The Geelong West
Fire Brigade is such a volunteer service that offers many varied roles for its
members.
Brigade roles
include:
Operational fire-fighters attend call outs for bush and grass fires, structural fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous chemical spills, and industrial accidents.
Non-operational fire-fighters carrying out roles such as administration support, fund raising, training, community education, station maintenance and cleaning just to mention a few.
Regardless of which role you undertake, you will be provided with full training by experienced trainers.
You will be working
side by side with other volunteers, not only during times of emergency.
You will
learn new and valuable skills that will assist you in day to day life and often
within your workplace.
Most of all you get
to help make your Community a safer place to live in and enjoy the rewards of
knowing you are helping, not only your local Community, but also the State of
Victoria.
Members will tell
you that the personal satisfaction they receive compensates for the time
invested.
WHAT WILL BECOMING A VOLUNTEER COST ME?
Basically, the only
cost is your time and commitment.
Volunteers are
expected to attend:
Monthly Brigade Meetings
- 1st Monday of each month, 19:30hrs
Weekly training sessions for all
Operational volunteer fire-fighters - 2nd, 3rd and 4th Monday each Month
Special Training Sessions are held to
accommodate Shift workers.
You will be provided with all the training and protective clothing necessary to undertake your role.
