PAST HISTORY

2011, Jan 6th
On this night, I'm very happy to announce that I'll be assisting my friend Louise from Salt Lake City, at her EP launch at the Evelyn Hotel in Fitzroy.
Supporting them on this night are Kate Ducardus, Nic Tate and Citrus Jam, with Ennis Tola headlining.
I'll be performing a few poems in-between musical acts early in the evening, as a bit of a change of pace for the room; poetry tends to do that pretty well, from my experience!
If you'd like to come down and support myself and some good friends, tickets are $12 from Moshtix, available here: http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=42555
Can't wait!

2010, Christmas
Merry Christmas everyone! Well I was hoping to have the album out for Christmas, but decided at the last minute to spend some more time on the mastering and the artwork to try and get this just right, so it looks like it'll be Jan or Feb 2011 at this stage. I'll be pushing for some more radio spots and hassling all the appropriate people to start getting some more activity out of this. I hope you're all looking forward to hearing the new stuff as much as I'm looking forward to getting it out there!

2010, mid December
Gigs have been coming thick and fast. Dan O'Connell open mics are a regular every Tuesday night, if you're around the Carlton area, come down and share the music with me!
Thornbury's Bender Bar has played host to me on Wednesdays, things are coming along well!

2010, November
Writing for the new album is finished! No leaks on the album title yet, and the artwork is yet to be started, but all tracks are written and some basic recordings have been laid down. Can't wait to get this new stuff out, I think it's my most listenable and technically challenging stuff yet!

2010, mid September
Popped in to Spleen Bar in the city for a friend’s birthday and jumped up on stage to play a couple of tunes. Debuted were covers of Metallica's 'Mama Said', and an old song of mine called "Chasing the Sunrise", which should be getting more play in the upcoming gigs.

2010, August
Hi all, just some quick updates for ya.
I'm still writing for the new album, it's starting to take shape, with some new songs written in the last few weeks. Also made a purchase of a LOVELY new Maton guitar, which I'll be dragging out to gigs once I've finished writing the new album. Stay tuned for some big updates!

2010, March
Poems have been gathered for my next book, which should be out early in 2011 after the new album of music. My main focus right now is beginning work on the new album which will hopefully be out by the end of the year. There’ll also be an album of spoken-word poetry coming out in 2011 too – should be a busy year!

2009 wrap-up
I took a short hiatus from creative work, and spent the year gathering experiences to channel into my next creative piece.
Organic Prose sold well in shops, Sticky Books under Flinders St in the city sold out and requested more copies, and Polyester Books in Fitzroy sold out twice and requested more each time. A number of songs were written during this time, and in November-December 2009 I began visiting the Dan O’Connell in
Carlton, for their Tuesday open mic nights. A number of songs were debuted there, including a cover of Bob Dylan’s “To Ramona”, a re-working of an old Aussie traditional folk song called “Jim Jones”, and a new song called “Unity”

2008, November
Ahh, progress is a lovely thing. My first book is all done and printed up!
It's called "Organic Prose" - two words that mean a lot to me, and summarise my homegrown naturopathic way of writing.
It's now officially available through this website, or obtainable by visiting the lovely Polyester Bookshop on
Brunswick St, or Sticky Books under Flinders St Station in the city.
For more details, see the Poetry page. Thanks!

2008, mid-year
My first poetry gig at the beginning of April was a success, I did a reading of a poem called "The Quickening", one of my earlier ones. Performances continued in May, with a reading of a poem called "Stupid Words!" and in July with a reading of "The Raindrop", actually the first poem I'd ever written. Very enjoyable performances, helped me work on my stage presence and comfort levels up there under the bright lights.

2007, November
A couple of new tracks have been recorded on the dodgy old home recording setup, I'll throw em up on the Triple J site soon.
Been having some issues with my mp3.com.au site, confounded technology is toying with me. With any luck, that little issue should be sorted soon.
Sent out a couple of demos to random people recently, something may come of that, we'll wait and see.
Still working on the poetry book, looks as if it'll be in zine form first, just to get an idea of whether or not people WANT to read poems about death, love and life. Pretty popular topics. Maybe I should write poems about dishwashers, yellow doormats and Somalian bus drivers.

2007, October
Two bits of news for ya:
Firstly, I've been working on two books for the last few months. One of them is a book of my poetry that I'm looking at getting out there in some format, be it a zine, or a proper book. Details will be on my "poetry" page once it's all sorted.
Secondly, I've completed two new recordings. One is a recording of the new song I played late last year on my radio appearance, "Koo Wee Rup Blues", and the other is a brand spankin' new song called "Unity", which I'm quite excited by.
Keep an eye out for them on my Triple J Unearthed site (check my "sounds" page for the link) sometime in early November.

2007, mid-year
Continued work to be done on some new stuff, and breathing some new life into a very old previously un-used track, which has gone through more genre changes than Alice Cooper.

2007, February/March:
A radio station based in
Sweden called we3us Radio requested a copy of my demo in January 2007, and I promptly sent them one. A few of my songs from my demo have been played on their radio station over there in Sweden. Pop by the site and have a listen to their stream, you might catch one of my songs.

2006, November 7:
If you tuned in to The Blue Room on 3SER 97.7FM on November 7, you would've heard me making a live appearance in the studio for a chat with Big Pete about my music. I also played 3 songs live, a cover of Jimmy Cox's "Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out", and two of my songs, "Steel", and "Koo Wee Rup Blues".
