Our Monthly Meetings

The Greythorn Probus Club meets at St Aidans Church Hall, Duggan Street, Balwyn North on the second Tuesday of each month, commencing at 10 am.

Forthcoming Meetings

Guest speaker on August 12 will be Robyn Hookes, Director of the David Hookes Foundation. Robyn will recount her experience of losing her husband in circumstances where organ donation is possible. She promotes awareness and discussion of the organ donor programme. Lunch afterwards at the Skinny Dog Hotel, High St, Kew.

On September 9 our guest speaker will be Paul Carman, Business Development Manager of MSC cruises. Paul has over 30 years experience on various cruise lines and loves to talk about his passenger ships. He has a wealth of anecdotes and will highlight ships and cruising in the Mediterranean.

Monday 18th August. Visit to the MCG and the New Museum. $15 per head. We need a minimum of 2 people to join this tour starting at 10am followed by a visit to the museum at 11.30pm. Lunch - own arrangements. Suggest tram 48 to the Hilton Hotel. Walk through Yarra Park to the MCG Tours entrance at Gate 3. Pay $15 at July meeting.

Tuesday 21 October. Visit by coach to the Dandenong Market and lunch at the Crown Casino. We will be picked up by coach from the North Balwyn Leisure Centre and visit Dandenong Market and on to the Crown Casino before returning to our cars about 5pm. Dandenong Market not only has great fresh produce but there are many other bargains to be had, from shoes to bed linen and all things in between. Cost $20 per person. Could be less depending on numbers. Pay $10 deposit at July meeting.

The Johnston Christmas Collection Tuesday 25 November at 2.15 pm. Those who went in July enjoyed the Johnston Collection. The Chrismtas Collection promises to be just as good and offers a chance to see different items from the collction with a Christmas theme. Cost $18.50. Deposit $10 pp required at the August meeting. A short tour of Norfolk Island after the November racing carnival is being planned. Norfolk Island is a short flight from Melbourne and has lots to offer - beautiful scenery, bush walking, golf, fishing, fresh island food and wine and of course low tax shopping. Probus Christmas Festive Lunch arrangements have now been finalised. We are to meet at the Box Hill Golf Club (61D3) in Station Street, Box Hill. The function will be held on Thursday 11 December this year commencing at noon. The menu is a two course lunch with tea/coffee and mints. Drinks are available at bar prices. Cost is $40 pp and a booking deposit of $10 pp is sought as soon as possible. As we are again having to commit to numbers at the Box Hill Golf Club your early support would be appreciated. Tuesday 17 February 2009 - Williamstown Ferry from Southbank through the Docks to Williamstown for a leisurely cafe lunch or even fish and chiups, and return to Southbank by Ferry or by tram or train to Melbourne and environs.
