Greek School

Text Box: The Greek Community in Hobsons Bay was invited to plant native grasses and trees along the Kororoit Creek. The head-waters of the creek run from the hills north-west of Sunbury and travels 40km through rural and residential suburbs and finally into Port Philip Bay at Altona. Many community groups have had planting days and this was our turn .

Greeks planting at the Creek

Thanks to Vassili of Channel 31

for his appearance.

Our special thanks to the teachers and the young students of the Greek  Saturday School for their participation.

The Friends of the Lower Kororoit Creek are doing a great job, we were only too glad to volunteer our labour on a Saturday morning. Thanks to the organisers for a great day!

Our community offers a Greek school every Saturday

from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm.

The number of students per classroom is small so that the teachers can better educate the children. The school environment is safe and pleasant.

The school functions as a result of the demand that exists in our area where many families of Greek origin live.

Apart from the teaching of the Greek language, our school teaches its students the immortal values of the Greek civilisation and the Orthodox religion.

The school program is designed to help the students, who have different abilities, to succeed the best possible way they can.

Our students are encouraged to develop their language skills, their honesty and general character, knowledge of their ancestry, the Orthodox faith and its teachings.
