The Grainger Ensemble is Melbourne's newest chamber orchestra dedicated to giving concerto and ensemble performance opportunities to young musicians.  The Ensemble was founded by Melbourne pianist/conductor Glenn Riddle, Lecturer  in Music  at the Victorian  College of the Arts,  University  of Melbourne.  Glenn Riddle continues to be the Artistic  Director of The Grainger Ensemble.  The Grainger Ensemble consists of talented young instrumentalists,  with  a mix  of professional musicians  combining with those on the cusp of professional careers. The Grainger Ensemble gives regular concerts exploring  ensemble and orchestral repertoire.  Among its aims are exploring the music of Australia's foremost pianist/composer Percy Grainger and bringing it to a wider public. The Grainger Ensemble also strives to give young virtuoso performers the chance to play concertos. In addition the Grainger Ensemble has premiered numerous works by young Australian composers and arrangers.  A primary aim of the Ensemble is to raise money for worthwhile charities  and thus The Grainger Ensemble has raised thousands of dollars for charities  such as The Malcolm Sargeant Cancer Fund for Children,  and The Peter McCallum Cancer Centre.
