THE ANGLO NUBIAN - THE SUPERIOR GOAT! The Anglo Nubian is primarily known as a dairy goat, but the usefulness of this unique goat goes much further. The Anglo Nubian is a large, exotic multipurpose goat, which is very adaptable to most climates and situations. It is the perfect goat for meat, milk, hide, fecundity and temperament. MILK The Anglo Nubian has earned a highly respected position as an excellent dairy goat due to its milking capacity with a high butterfat content. The flavour of its milk is compared to that of cows and the high protein/fat content makes its milk highly sought after for the manufacturing of cheese and yogurts. Where emphasis is placed on flavour and quality of milk, the Anglo Nubian cannot be beaten. MEAT The Anglo Nubian has been the most successful European breed of goat used for cross breeding for meat purposes in a wide range of environments. It is a large animal, being one of the heaviest and tallest of all breeds of goats. It is the best suited to meat production as the kids grow quickly, putting on flesh easily. Experiments done at Condobolin N.S.W. conducted by the Ag. Dept. Re Anglo Nubian bucks over Feral does for meat production, proved the Anglo Nubian to be the most suitable. The meat of the Anglo Nubian can be eaten at any stage of the goats life, this is as the meat does not become stringy with age as it does with other breeds. The Anglo Nubian meat is far more desirable as a large carcass of leaner meat is produced. It has been reported that 1st cross Anglo Nubian/Feral kids at 4 months of age are as big as a 9 month Feral kid. Unwanted Anglo Nubian dairy buck kids have been known to bring as much as $30 at the market at only a few days old. Abattoirs sell the skins to local dealers who export them to Japan, Italy, Korea and Spain. They are used for suede, chamois and fine leather products.
