About The Electorate of Ballarat EastThe electorate of Ballarat East is
diverse with a range of living environments. It includes approximately
one third of the City of Ballarat urban area and many rural towns to the
east. Included among these are Daylesford, Ballan, Buninyong and
Meredith. Electoral boundary changes have added Creswick,
Trentham, Malmsbury and Kyneton and their surrounding areas to the
electorate. These boundary changes came into effect at the 2002 state
election. The communities of these towns each have their own individual
flavour. Ballarat is Victoria’s largest inland city and was one of the main goldmining centres in Australia in the nineteenth century. Today the district has it’s own cultural and lifestyle. Many people have chosen it not only for the lifestyle, but for the range of quality services available including health and education, along with the unique job opportunities that exist. Ballarat is one of Victoria’s leading regional hubs, being a world leader in information technology, manufacturing, agriculture, services and tourism. |
